Synopsis: The case stems from a complaint filed on 18 July by a woman trainee officer at the Attapur police station, alleging harassment, assault and blackmail by Reddy, a batchmate at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Shivarampally.
Uday Krishna Reddy, a trainee IPS officer accused of sexually assaulting a fellow woman trainee, is reportedly absconding as police probe intensifies.
Investigative officers in the case have visited two residences in Hyderabad, hoping to serve him notices and secure his cooperation, but have not been able to trace him. His phone has reportedly been switched off.
Special teams have now been deployed to track him down after he went absconding.
Earlier, Uday Krishna was rushed to Jayanthi Super Speciality Hospital on the morning of 20 July, after being found unconscious, doctors treating him ruled out self-harm, attributing his condition instead to heavy alcohol consumption.
Telangana Police had initially believed Reddy had attempted suicide after he was reportedly found motionless in bed, surrounded by alcohol and sanitiser bottles, by his brother and friends at the family’s home in Moti Nagar.
According to doctors at the hospital, a stomach wash turned up no trace of tablets, while blood and urine tests came back negative for drugs. However, his blood alcohol level was found to be significantly elevated.
Doctors concluded that alcohol intoxication, not deliberate self-harm, was behind the collapse.

He is accused of sexual harassment, assault, criminal intimidation and blackmail under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections of the Information Technology Act relating to privacy violations and the circulation of sexually explicit material.
The complainant has alleged that the harassment began in late June and included abusive messages, derogatory remarks made in front of other trainees, physical confinement, and an assault during which she was allegedly choked and threatened with a knife.
The survivor has also alleged that a private video of her was recorded without her consent and sent to her husband.
The case has been moved to Hyderabad Women’s Safety Wing with DCP Lavanya Naik as the investigation officer.
Reddy subsequently moved the Telangana High Court seeking to have the FIR quashed, but the court refused him interim protection from arrest and adjourned the matter for further hearing.
