Akula Naresh (35), an Armed Reserve (AR) constable of the 2013 batch allegedly killed his wife and two children before dying by suicide at his residence in the Ramunipatla village of the Chinnakodur Mandal of Telangana’s Siddipet district in the morning of Friday, 15 December.

Naresh was said to be working as a gunman for the collector of the Siddipet district.

According to police sources, Naresh was reportedly suffering from financial stress due to loan apps and online betting.

He lost certain sums in betting and could not pay back the amount he borrowed, said the sources, adding that he also recently sold one acre of land to a relative of his to repay his debts.

On Friday, one of the lenders asked for repayment. Soon after this, Naresh returned home and committed the crime.
