TPCC president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, 15 November, said that after the Congress comes to power in the state, it will adopt Adilabad district and ensure its all-round development, ahead of the 30 November Assembly elections in the state.

Addressing election rallies at Boath, Nirmal, and Jangaon, the Congress leader said that he was making this promise as one who was born in the Achampet jungles. The tribals who live in jungles, whether in Achampet or in Adilabad, have the same problems, he said.

“I promise you that, before long, Adilabad will be on the road to development if you elect the Congress,” he vowed.

Revanth Reddy addresses Boath

The TPCC chief said that Adivasis and Lambadis were like two eyes of the Congress. That was why it had allotted tickets to Adivasis in six Assembly segments and Lambadis in another six Assembly segments in the state. “Former Union Minister of State Balram Naik stepped out of the competition to give an Adivasi the Yellandu Congress ticket,” he said.

He urged the people to know why Boath had not got drinking water though Telangana became a state in 2014. “How come tribals in Boath have not yet been allotted podu land pattas?” he asked and wondered why Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had forgotten to construct office buildings after upgrading thandas into panchayats.

He alleged that KCR had driven the sarpanches to die by suicide by withholding payment of arrears, which have run into thousands of crores of rupees.

The TPCC chief flayed KCR for the quality deficiency in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. “KCR says that it was his brainchild. If that were the case, how come piers of Medigadda had sunk and how come there is seepage at Annaram?” he asked.

Revanth Reddy promised a revenue division, with Boath as headquarters, before 31 December, if people elected the Congress. He said that he would take enough care to ensure that budget is allocated for Kupti Project. (Kupti is also known as the Chanaka-Korata project, an inter-state irrigation project across the Painganga river, a tributary of the Godavari river).

Revanth Reddy addresses Nirmal

Later addressing an election rally at Nirmal, he said that the people should realise that democracy in Telangana was under threat from the BRS. This is the reason why the people should elect the Congress, jettisoning the BRS by the wayside.

He said that he would pay special attention to develop Nirmal the way he was going to focus on Kodangal, his native constituency.

Levelling serious corruption allegations against the KCR-led government, he said that in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, irregularities on a scale of ₹1 lakh crore had taken place.

“For the greed of KCR and his minister-nephew T Harish Rao, the Pranahita project had fallen victim, which left Adilabad with no irrigation sources, parched,” he said.

At Jangaon, he said that the turnout at the public meeting is evidence that KCR’s days are numbered. “After the exit of former minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah from the Congress, I had a little doubt about victory but after seeing the response from you, I am now sure that the Congress will win the seat with effort less ease. You have shown that you would teach a lesson to anyone who bites the hand that feeds one,” he said.
