Synopsis: Telangana police have arrested nine people in connection with the 14 September murder of history-sheeter Nayeem at a wine shop in Bandlaguda, Hyderabad. Four other suspects are still absconding. Police said prime accused Syed Rabbani allegedly planned Nayeem’s murder and tracked his movements before the attack. Commissioner B Sumati said a private vehicle marked as a government vehicle was used as a decoy during the attack.
Telangana police have arrested nine people in connection with the murder of history-sheeter Nayeem, who was hacked to death at Supreme Wines in Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, on the night of 14 September under the Nagole police station limits.
Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police B Sumati said the Nagole police cracked the case within 24 hours with the assistance of the Deputy Commissioners of Police of LB Nagar and the Special Operations Team.
The arrested persons are Syed Rabbani, Dinakar, Volipolla Mahesh, Saketh, Alukunta Venkat, Kodiganti Raghavender alias Raghu, Vallapadasu Charan Goud, Mohammed Badrula Hussain alias Badri, and Thodeti Venkatesh.
Uma Mahesh, Mohammed Ismail Zabi, Bhole and Karthik are absconding.

Nayeem and prime accused Syed Rabbani met at a real-estate promotional event in Madhapur in 2024, according to the police, and eventually began living together. Uma Mahesh and Dinakar were also part of their gang.
Police said Nayeem was verbally abusive towards his associates and threatened to kill anyone who crossed him.
The group was named in a series of cases registered in January 2026 within the Malkajgiri Commissionerate limits. The accused were jailed in cases involving charges including phone theft and extortion.
The three associates later befriended R Saketh, a POCSO accused from Chatrinaka, and allegedly sought his help to kill Nayeem.
The group met in Khammam on 13 September and stayed there overnight to finalise the plan. They returned to Hyderabad the following day and tracked Nayeem’s movements before the attack. Rabbani, Saketh and other hired men carried out the attack, police said.
Addressing speculation that a government vehicle was used by the accused during the alleged murder, Commissioner Sumati said the vehicle was private but had been marked as a government vehicle. It was used only as a decoy, she said.
