Synopsis: The victim, Mohammed Nayeem, a real estate agent and a resident of Bandlaguda, was attacked at a wine shop around 9:15 pm, according to the FIR filed at Nagole police station.
A 34-year-old man was hacked to death at a wine shop in Hyderabad’s Bandlaguda on the night of Monday, 14 September. The graphic visuals from the crime scene went viral on social media, spreading panic in the neighbourhood.
The victim, Mohammed Nayeem, was a real estate agent and a Bandlaguda resident. He was attacked around 9:15 pm while he was at a nearby wine shop with a group of friends, according to the FIR filed at Nagole police station.
A group of men blinded Nayeem with chilli powder before chasing and attacking him on his head and right hand with a scythe. He was then struck on the head with an iron pan. He died of injuries sustained in the attack.
Nayeem’s cousin, Yakub Pasha, told police someone called him from the deceased man’s phone around 10 pm, saying the phone’s owner had been found dead. Pasha rushed to the spot and found Nayeem lying in the seating area with severe head injuries.
The police have filed an FIR under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint filed by Pasha. The police are investigating JK Mahesh of Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district as the key suspect. The complaint stated that Mahesh and Nayeem had a longstanding dispute and that the former had allegedly threatened to kill him.
Reports suggested that both Nayeem and Mahesh were history sheeters with multiple cases registered against them in Bhadradri Kothagudem.
