Synopsis: The victim, Mohammed Nayeem, a real estate agent and a resident of Bandlaguda, was attacked around 9:15 PM while at the nearby Supreme Wines with a group of friends, according to the FIR filed at Nagole police station.
A 34-year-old man was hacked to death at a wine shop in Hyderabad’s Bandlaguda on the night of Monday, 14 September. The graphic visuals from the crime scene went viral on social media soon after, deepening alarm in the neighbourhood.
The victim, Mohammed Nayeem, a real estate agent and a resident of Bandlaguda, was attacked around 9:15 PM while at the nearby Supreme Wines with a group of friends, according to the FIR filed at Nagole police station.
A group of men threw chilli powder into Nayeem’s eyes before chasing and attacking him with a scythe on his head and right hand. He was then struck on the head with an iron pan lying at the spot, and died of the injuries.
Nayeem’s cousin, Yakub Pasha, told police he was alerted around 10 pm by a call from an unknown number using Nayeem’s own phone, informing him that its owner had been found dead. Pasha rushed to the spot and found Nayeem lying in the seating area with severe head injuries.
The police have filed an FIR under Section 103(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint filed by Pasha. The police are investigating J.K. Mahesh of Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district as the key suspect. The complaint states that Mahesh and Nayeem had a longstanding dispute and that Mahesh had allegedly threatened to kill him.
Reports suggest that both Nayeem and Mahesh are history sheeters with multiple cases registered against them in Bhadradri Kothagudem.
