The Telangana Assembly has passed a bill to rename Potti Sriramulu Telugu University as Suravaram Pratap Reddy Telugu University. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has defended this decision and has now proposed naming the Cherlapally Railway Terminal after Potti Sriramulu.

Keeping the Arya Vysya community in mind, he also announced that Begumpet Nature Cure Hospital would be renamed after former Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah and that a statue of Rosaiah would be installed.

CM seeks an appointment with the PM

Revanth Reddy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an appointment to meet him along with leaders from various political parties, including Congress, BRS, BJP, AIMIM, and CPI.

The request follows the Telangana Assembly’s unanimous passage of two significant bills aimed at increasing reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) to 42 percent in local bodies, education, and employment sectors, the chief minister’s office said on Monday night.

In his letter, the chief minister emphasised the need for the Union government’s support to implement these bills effectively and urged Modi to grant an appointment for the delegation to discuss the matter. The Telangana government aims to ensure broader political consensus and cooperation to secure the Centre’s endorsement for the newly passed BC reservation bill.
