BRS MLCs protest

BRS MLCs staged a protest at the Telangana Legislative Council on Wednesday, 26 March, highlighting the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its promise to provide 10 grams of gold to eligible women for their marriages.

The protest featured symbolic gold bricks inscribed with “10 Grams Gold” in Telugu, Hindi, and English, drawing attention to the Congress-led government’s pre-poll promise.

Criticising the ruling party, BRS leaders said, “The Congress party, led by Revanth Reddy, had come to power on the back of promises to support families, particularly by assisting in marriage expenses for women. However, the government has not fulfilled its pledge, leaving numerous households in financial distress and causing disappointment among women who were eagerly awaiting this support.”

They further gave slogans such as, “Sonia ji, sona kaha hai (Sonia ji, where is gold)” and “Tulam bangaram mosam mosam (10 gms gold, a lie)”.

The BRS MLCs criticised the Congress for misleading the public and failing to uphold its promises, claiming that the failure has broken the hopes of many women and families.

NIMS performs landmark robotic kidney transplant

Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad has made history by successfully performing South India’s first-ever robotic kidney transplant in a public hospital.

The recipient, a 33-year-old from Nalgonda, Telangana, had been battling end-stage renal disease. Despite previous surgeries, the complex procedure was carried out without complications, with the new kidney functioning immediately.

NIMS’ Urology and Renal Transplantation department, known for its high-volume transplant program, has conducted 41 renal transplants in 2025 alone, bringing the total count to nearly 2,000. The introduction of robotic technology is expected to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes.

Professor Dr Rahul Devraj, the lead urologist, described the procedure as a “landmark achievement.”
