Synopsis: Telangana ACB arrested Khammam assistant labour officer Karne Chander after catching him red-handed accepting Rs 15,000 bribe to process Rs 1.30 lakh funeral assistance claim under Construction Workers Welfare Board. Tainted notes have been recovered and Chander has been produced before Warangal special court.
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an assistant labour officer in Khammam after he was allegedly caught accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe to process a beneficiary application.
According to an official statement from the bureau, Karne Chander, posted at the Assistant Labour Office on Madira Road, was apprehended by the ACB’s Khammam Range team on Monday, reported The Hindu.

He is accused of demanding the money from a complainant in order to forward an application concerning the complainant’s father’s death and to facilitate the release of Rs 1.30 lakh in natural-death funeral assistance under the Telangana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The ACB confirmed that the tainted currency notes were recovered from Chander’s possession.
He has been arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal. The complainant’s identity is being protected for safety reasons.
