KTR Uppal inauguration

Taking a serious exception to BJP president JP Nadda asserting that they would send Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to jail, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao demanded to know the reason behind the same.

Addressing a public meeting at Uppal in Hyderabad after inaugurating a skywalk built around the Uppal Circle for the benefit of pedestrians, KTR said that the only objective of the Opposition leaders was to criticise the chief minister.

Warns Opposition leaders

“Nadda says he would send the chief minister to jail. Don’t the Opposition leaders in the state have any other business than criticising KCR? They have not done anything for the good of the people. Day in and day out, their single-minded objective is to attack the chief minister,” he said.

He also warned the Opposition parties that those who rubbed KCR the wrong way never had a good time later, during the last 23 years.

The industries minister wanted to know why KCR should be sent to jail.

“I am asking why? Is it because he, like the maternal uncle, had helped the parents of 12 lakh girls perform their weddings under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak schemes? Or is it because he is constructing double-bedroom houses for the poor? Or is it because he has handed over KCR kits to 13 lakh women after delivery at government hospitals?”

Criticises BJP, Congress

The minister said Nadda’s criticism of KCR was unwarranted. He said neither the BJP nor the Congress had done anything for the people.

“In fact, after the advent of the BRS government, we have been addressing issues one after the other, to clear the 55 years of muck that had piled up in the state,” he said.

He also slammed TPCC president A Revanth Reddy for talking about corruption in Telangana.

“Has anyone forgotten how he was caught red-handed with ₹50 lakh (cash for vote scam) and did time in jail? If he talks about corruption it would be like the tiger giving a lecture on the virtues of vegetarian food. It would be like the murderer mourning the death of his victim.”

Holds Congress responsible

He demanded to know from the Congress whether it was not responsible for the death of several youths while fighting for the Telangana state.

“Wasn’t it because of the Congress the division of the state was delayed? Isn’t it true that it was Sonia Gandhi who was responsible for their deaths?” he asked.

Addressing a public meeting at Nagarkurnool in Telangana on Sunday, Nadda alleged that KCR indulged in corruption in the Centre’s flagship ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ housing programme and asked the gathering if those indulging in corruption should be sent to jail or not.

“If they (corrupt) are to be put behind bars, then lotus (BJP symbol) has to be supported,” he told the audience.

The Skywalk that KTR inaugurated at Uppal Junction had a length of 660 metres. The HMDA has built it for the benefit of pedestrians as the junction has become choked with vehicular traffic.  The Skywalk also connects the metro station. For those who cannot climb steps, lifts have been set up. CC-TV cameras have been set up for security reasons.
