Telangana engineer caught accepting Rs 10,000 bribe via assistant’s UPI account

The ACB has encouraged members of the public to report any public servant who demands a bribe for performing official duties.

Synopsis: Telangana ACB arrested deputy executive engineer Kunamalla Sandhya Rani for demanding a Rs 10,000 bribe to inspect and clear Mission Bhagiratha pipeline works. The money was received via her PA’s UPI account.

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday, 21 November, arrested Kunamalla Sandhya Rani, a deputy executive engineer with Mission Bhagiratha (INTRA), on suspicion of demanding a Rs 10,000 bribe.

The officer, posted in the Palakurthy sub-division of Jangaon district, allegedly received the money via the UPI account of her private assistant, reported Siasat.

She demanded the money in return for inspecting pipeline works carried out by the complainant under Mission Bhagiratha and forwarding the file to the executive engineer.

The ACB has encouraged members of the public to report any public servant who demands a bribe for performing official duties.
