Synopsis: Tekmal villagers celebrated with firecrackers as Telangana ACB arrested sub-inspector Rajesh for accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe. The officer fled with the cash but was chased and caught in nearby fields. The money was recovered. The bribe amount was related to favourable handling of a settled theft case.
Villagers in Tekmal, Medak district in Andhra Pradesh, erupted in celebration on Tuesday, 18 November, following the arrest of sub-inspector Rajesh by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a bribery case.
When ACB officers arrived, the sub-inspector fled with the bribe money but was chased and caught in nearby agricultural fields opposite Jai Durgabhavani wines.
The marked bribe amount of ₹30,000 was recovered from his possession, reported the Deccan Chronicle.

The ACB caught Rajesh red-handed while he allegedly accepted ₹30,000 from the complainant inside the station premises as gratification for favourable handling of notices issued under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act, 2023.
The matter, a theft case involving the complainant and his associate, had already been disposed of at a Lok Adalat.
