Murder linked to Waqf lands

According to investigators, the accused allegedly paid ₹25 lakh as supari to eliminate Moizuddin. Police suspect that the murder was linked to legal battles involving Waqf lands.

Moizuddin, a resident of Shantinagar, was practising in the City Civil Court and the Telangana High Court. He was representing the Waqf Board in cases against the administrators of a prominent educational institution accused of encroaching upon Waqf lands and constructing educational institutions on the disputed property.

The incident took place on 23 May at around 5.42 am when Mohijuddin stepped out of his residence to go swimming. As he was about to open the door of his car parked outside his house, another car parked nearby allegedly sped towards him and rammed into him, dragging him for nearly 20 metres.

He sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to a private hospital by his family members. However, he succumbed to injuries later in the afternoon while undergoing treatment.

Police sources said the accused fled Hyderabad after the murder and were tracked down in Haryana during an attempt to escape towards Delhi. Further investigation is underway to identify other persons allegedly involved in the conspiracy and execution of the murder.
