Madhu made the remarks during an altercation with the police for disrupting a protest by BRS leaders outside the Assembly.
BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy, arrested on Tuesday, September 8, in a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act over derogatory remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, secured bail from the Nampally court later in the day.
The court reportedly accepted the police remand report on record but, citing the ongoing Assembly session, granted relief to the MLCs.
The duo were directed to furnish personal bonds of Rs 20,000 with two sureties each. The court adjourned the case to 17 September and ordered the MLCs to appear in person.
Speaking after his release, Tata Madhu said that despite repeated attempts to get him and Naveen Reddy arrested, justice has ultimately prevailed. He thanked the party’s legal team, along with KCR and KTR, for their support.
The Chairman of Legislative Council Gutha Sukender Reddy has suspended the two BRS MLCs. The suspension applies to the ongoing Monsoon session of the state legislature.
The other MLCs from BRS have staged a protest at the Legislative Council condemning the suspension, raising slogans such as ‘Congress Dar Gaya‘ and ‘Revanth Reddy Bhaag Gaya’.
Earlier, the Telangana Legislative Assembly adopted a resolution strongly condemning Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy over their remarks against the Speaker.
Moved by Health Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha, the resolution also condemned the BRS legislators for stripping off their shirts during the protest, calling the act indecent and shameful.
The resolution said that their conduct undermined the Speaker’s constitutional dignity and authority, and called on BRS president and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to take responsibility for his party colleagues’ acts and tender an unconditional apology.
The House further resolved to forward the statement, along with supporting evidence and a breach-of-privilege notice, to Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy for appropriate action.
