Owaisi's saying "Jai Palestine" while taking oath as a member of the Lok Sabha had earlier sparked a row among the other MPs.
AIMIM chief and the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi said on Thursday, 27 June that his home in Delhi’s Ashoka Road area was vandalised with black ink by some unknown miscreants. The miscreants demanded his suspension from Lok Sabha and put up pro-Israel posters.
A group of five men pasted posters outside his residence, demanding his suspension from the Lok Sabha, officials said. According to a police officer, four to five men reached Owaisi’s 34 Ashoka Road residence located in Central Delhi and pasted three posters at the entry gate and wall of the house at about 9 pm.
The lines like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘I stand with Israel’ and ‘Owaisi should be suspended’ were written on the posters. A purported video of the incident surfaced online in which one of the miscreants said that youth of the country should be united against the politician, who does not say “bharat mata ki jai”.
The Delhi Police however, reached the spot and removed the posters. By then, the men had gone away, an officer said. A police officer said they are trying to identify the people and legal action will be taken against them.
Owaisi’s saying “Jai Palestine” while taking oath as a member of the Lok Sabha had sparked a row among the other MPs two days earlier.
Taking to ‘X’ to share a video of police officers wiping the ink in the plaque outside his residence, Owaisi wrote, “I have lost the number of times my Delhi residence has been targeted.” He said that Delhi Police expressed helplessness when he asked them how the attack happened.
Owaisi also urged Union Minister Amit Shah how this was happening under his “oversight.” He also tagged Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in his post and questioned whether MP’s safety will be guaranteed.
Calling the attack a “Savarkar-type cowardly behaviour,” the MP said that this does not scare him. He wrote,
Some “unknown miscreants” vandalised my house with black ink today. I have now lost count the number of times my Delhi residence has targeted. When I asked @DelhiPolice officials how this was happening right under their nose, they expressed helplessness. @AmitShah this is… pic.twitter.com/LmOuXu6W63

This is not the first time that Owaisi’s house has been attacked. In February and August, 2023, Lok Sabha MP’s Delhi residence said that his Delhi residence had been attacked by unknown miscreants.
In February, miscreants allegedly threw stones and damaged the name plate at the entrance and some windows and doors. In August the same year, glass panels on the doors of his residence were found broken. Reacting to those incidents, he had said that anytime he says something important in the Parliament, stones are pelted at his house.
