Krishna alleged that the college's anti-ragging committee did not help him despite reporting the issue.
Synopsis: Despite informing them that he had grown his beard as part of a religious vow taken at a temple, the seniors reportedly took him to a hostel room and forcibly trimmed it. They allegedly made him stand for an hour, answer random questions, seized his mobile phones and forced him to do sit-ups.
The Three-Town police in Telangana’s Siddipet have registered a case against eight MBBS students of Surabhi Institute of Medical Sciences for allegedly ragging a junior on two separate occasions.
The complainant, first-year student A Sai Krishna, alleged that he was harassed first on 19 November, two days after he had joined the course. He said the seniors questioned him for growing a beard and not ‘respecting’ them.

Krishna alleged that the college’s anti-ragging committee did not help him despite reporting the issue. Following complaints from his parents, the Siddipet Three-Town police visited the campus on Wednesday evening and launched an inquiry.
Based on the initial investigation, the college suspended four senior students involved in the incident.
However, the student was allegedly targeted again. On 25 November, another group of four seniors confronted him, reportedly angry over the disciplinary action against their peers.
They allegedly ordered him to shift cricket kits from the ground to a room on the upper floor. When he refused, the students reportedly questioned his “newfound courage” and reminded him that he must always greet and obey seniors.
Krishna’s mother, A. Vani, filed a fresh complaint on Wednesday after her son was subjected to harassment for the second time.
Circle Inspector Ch. Vidyasagar confirmed the registration of cases against all eight senior students allegedly involved in the two incidents.
“Further investigation is underway. The Anti-Ragging Team is also examining the second complaint,” he said.
