BJP MLA Raghunandhan Rao

BJP MLA M Raghunandhan Rao demanded in Hyderabad on Sunday, 5 February, that the Telangana government immediately send the state’s Director-General of Police Anjani Kumar to his cadre state Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Nampally, he said grave injustice was done to the IPS officers belonging to the Telangana cadre during the recent reshuffle.

The BRS government failed to appoint a single IPS officer from Telangana in the key post in the state, claimed Rao.

In the recent reshuffle, four officers from Bihar — Anjani Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Shahnawaz Qasim, and Swati Lakra — got key posts, he said, alleging that crucial posts were given to officers who were working in favour of the ruling BRS and arresting leaders from Opposition parties.

“Senior IPS officer Stephen Ravindra, who fired rubber bullets on supporters during the agitation for a separate Telangana before 2014, got a key post as Cyberabad Police Commissioner. Right from home guards to senior IPS officers, everyone should think about what Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was doing in the state,” said the MLA.

‘AIMIM B-Team of BRS’

Referring to AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s statement that his party would contest in only 15 Assembly seats and work for the BRS, he said the AIMIM was working as a B-Team for the BRS. He asked the AIMIM to contest all 119 seats in the Telangana Assembly in the next elections.

Stating that he would show his influence in Siddipet and Dubbaka in the next elections, Rao demanded that Telangana Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao visit the Dubbaka Assembly constituency.

“When Rama Rao said that the whole of Telangana was his family, why did he fail to come to the rescue of Telangana martyrs including Srikantha Chary, who sacrificed his life for Telangana during the agitation?” Rao asked.

“Rama Rao was in the US when the TRS was launched at Jala Drushyam in front of the secretariat,” he said.
