Police said Dr Chigurupati had contacted a Mumbai-based drug dealer, Vansh Dhakkar, via WhatsApp to procure the drugs.

She reportedly transferred ₹5 lakh online for the order. Dhakkar then arranged for the delivery through his associate Balakrishna, who transported the cocaine to Hyderabad.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 against Dr Chigurupati, Balakrishna, and Dhakkar, the latter of whom is currently absconding.

Authorities are now probing possible links to a broader drug distribution network operating out of Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Further investigation is underway.
