Synopsis: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered the seizure of assigned lands allegedly transferred to members of the KCR family by exploiting loopholes in the Dharani portal. He cited government records showing nearly 440 acres linked to the former chief minister’s extended family and said the lands would be redistributed to the landless poor.
In a shocking disclosure during the Assembly discussion on Section 22A on Wednesday, September 16, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy alleged that former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family had got large tracts of assigned land transferred in their names by exploiting loopholes in the Dharani portal.
Assigned lands in Telangana are government-owned lands given to landless people for farming or other purposes.
The CM announced that the government would seize these lands and distribute them to the landless poor.
Revanth Reddy placed detailed figures before the House, claiming that KCR and members of his extended family together hold nearly 440 acres of assigned land spread across nine districts, 24 mandals and 31 villages.
According to the information tabled by the government, KCR and his wife, K. Shobha, hold around 67.5 acres in Siddipet, Markook and other areas. The family of K.T. Rama Rao is listed as holding a combined 123.19 acres: KTR (49.5 acres), Shailima (17.5 acres), Alekhya (9.38 acres) and Himanshu Rao (46.3523 acres).

Senior BRS leader Harish Rao’s family accounts for about 30.5 acres, with the MLA holding roughly 21 acres and his wife, Srinitha, about 8.5 acres.
K. Kavitha and her husband, D.R. Anil Kumar, together hold around 37.26 acres. The family of Joginipally Santosh Kumar is shown as holding nearly 79 acres, while Naveen Kumar and Kondal Rao are listed as holding 52.165 acres and 48.38 acres, respectively.
CM Revanth Reddy specifically referred to 388 acres of assigned land surrounding a farmhouse and reiterated that all it would be recovered and distributed to the landless poor in the respective areas.
Highlighting alleged irregularities in the Dharani portal, the government cited an instance from Nemalipuri village in Chintalapalem mandal of Suryapet district.
Survey No. 318/A1, measuring 1,389.36 acres, was registered in the name of Galla Srinivasa Rao’s father, Yogayya. Officials stated that after the present government assumed office, the land was brought under the reserved forest–forest boundary dispute category and placed on the prohibited list to prevent any further changes. They described the earlier mutation of more than 1,300 acres under a single survey number as a clear example of the irregularities that had taken place.
The chief minister presented the disclosures as part of the government’s effort to correct land records, plug loopholes in the Dharani portal and restore assigned lands to their rightful beneficiaries , the landless poor.
