A political controversy erupted in Telangana after a key official in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) attended a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress state unit’s headquarters in Hyderabad, on Thursday, 27 August.
The Chief Public Relations Officer in the CMO, G Malsur, attended a crucial meeting, reportedly on the party’s communication strategy. Congress MP and the party’s communication in-charge, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, also attended the meeting.
The controversy erupted after Reddy posted photographs of the meeting on X. The photographs showed Malsur alongside other Congress leaders. “We discussed key political issues, strategies for handling debates and press meets, and effective ways to develop strong, fact-based content for public communication.”
“Had a valuable interaction with @INCTelangana spokesperson and PRO Shri Prasad Garu and @TelanganaCMO @CPRO_TGCM Shri Dr G Malsur Garu,” he said.
Reddy later deleted the post and reposted it after removing Malsur’s name and photographs that showed him.

The BRS took exception to Malsur’s presence at the party meeting.
CPRO to CM, Dr Malsur is sitting at the Congress Party office, Gandhi Bhavan, and advising Congress leaders on how to effectively counter the BRS Party in TV debates.
“Isn’t he being paid by the Telangana Government? Isn’t there a clear line separating government activities from political party activities? Why is he acting as the PRO for the Congress Party?
I request you to put an end to such unethical and potentially illegal practices,” Konatham Dileep, who had served as the digital media director during the previous BRS government, said on X.
