Synopsis: Police drove Mahesh to Bollarum station and questioned him through the night. Police later released him around 4:30 AM on Friday after serving a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
The standoff between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Telangana’s Congress government escalated overnight, as police arrested and released KT Rama Rao’s (KTR) Public Relations Officer Mahesh by Friday, 18 September, morning, and around the same time, a separate group of officers gathered outside BRS leader Manne Krishank’s residence over a social media post.
Mahesh, who had appeared at Saifabad police station on Thursday, 17 September, along with KTR’s PA Mahender Reddy for questioning in the case pertaining to the protest outside the Assembly on 7 September, was detained by another team of police from Bollarum PS the moment he stepped out.

The Bollarum case dates to 8 September, when Begumpet ACP R Gopala Krishna Murthy alleged Mahesh argued with him and obstructed police who had stopped a BRS convoy headed to K Chandrashekar Rao’s Erravelli farmhouse.
Police drove Mahesh to Bollarum station and questioned him through the night. Police later released him around 4:30 AM on Friday after serving a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Meanwhile, BRS leader Konatham Dileep thanked party workers who protested the detention and stood by the two aides, as well as the party’s legal cell, which worked for Mahesh’s release.

The crackdown continued on Friday, when police arrived at BRS Social Media Convener Manne Krishank’s residence. BRS shared the related CCTV footage and alleged that a large police contingent came knocking at around 5 AM in the morning.
He is expected to be detained by the Nampally police, who registered a case against him over a tweet on the Assembly episode. Tensions continue to escalate as a large number of BRS cadres, along with the legal cell, also reached the residence.
A day earlier, on 16 September, the Telangana High Court had directed the Saifabad police to preserve the CCTV footage from the 14 September questioning of Mahesh and Mahender when masked men allegedly attempted to attack the duo.
The court had also instructed the officials to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety during the next questioning.
