Narendra Modi in Telangana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the prestigious Vande Bharat train from the Secunderabad Railway Station at 10 am on 15 January as a gift to the Telugu people on the occasion of Sankranti.

Union Minister of Railways Ashiwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy are expected to be physically present on platform number 10 of the Secunderabad Railway Station, from where the train will depart.

The eighth Vande Bharat train will ply between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in approximately eight hours.

The intermediate stops envisaged for the train include Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry, according to Kishan Reddy.

The prime minister was supposed to flag off the train during his visit to Hyderabad on 19 January.

However, his visit to Hyderabad was postponed, something that Kishan Reddy announced on Wednesday.

Other programmes delayed

Apart from flagging off the train, the Prime Minister was supposed to dedicate to the nation various projects, besides laying the foundation stone of some more projects, all worth over ₹7,076 crore.

BJP sources told South First that the prime minister was expected to take part in a public meeting to be organised either near Secunderabad railway station or any other place in Secunderabad.

He was also likely to hold a crucial meeting with Telangana BJP leaders, keeping in view the Assembly elections this year-end.

The prime minister was also likely to discuss the roadmap to be prepared for the Assembly elections in the state with the party leaders, the sources said.

However, with his visit postponed, when these programmes will take place — if they do take place at all — is anybody’s guess.
