Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday, 23 January, demanded that the BRS government make necessary amendments to Government Order (GO) 317, keeping in view the problems being faced by teachers who have been transferred.

The GO, pertaining to Telangana Public Employment, has introduced a zonal system in the allocation of jobs.

Addressing a press conference, Bandi Sanjay contended that the state government had started a “new drama” in the name of GO 317.

He alleged that BRS leaders were demanding money from teachers in exchange for transfers. It was learnt that the transfers of teachers in 13 districts were stopped after they failed to give money to BRS leaders, he alleged.

‘Resolve the issues’

Seeking to know why the state government was not giving salaries to government staff on time, he said that the chief minister would face the consequences for unnecessarily creating problems for teachers.

Since the families of many teachers were affected because of GO 317, the state government must come to the rescue of teachers and resolve their issues, Bandi Sanjay urged.

In view of irregularities committed in the name of GO 317, the state government should make necessary amendments to it and render justice to teachers across the state, he said.

He added that the government was yet to give four pending dearness allowances to teachers and criticised the BRS government for failing to implement the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission to employees.

Arrest of teachers

Bandi Sanjay also found fault with the highhandedness of the police towards teachers, who came to Pragathi Bhavan in Begumpet to stage a protest against GO 317.

He demanded that the police immediately release the teachers who were arrested for protesting.

The police also arrested scores of leaders of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha for attempting to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan, demanding that the state government withdraw the GO.

Holding party flags, the activists raised slogans denouncing the government’s attitude towards teachers.

More questions

At a separate press conference, Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind slammed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for failing to give 2BHK flats and unemployment dole to eligible beneficiaries.

Referring to Minister KT Rama Rao’s recent visit to Davos, he demanded that the minister share the number of industrialists who have agreed to set up their companies in Telangana and also to what extent investments have come to the state.
