Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday, 4 October, came down heavily on the BJP and the Congress for trying to mislead the people with their inferences that the BRS was working hand in glove with the other national party.
Addressing a huge public meeting at Nirmal after either inaugurating or laying the foundation stone for development works, he said: “We are not the B-team to either the BJP or the Congress. We are accountable only to the people of Telangana.”
The BRS leader claimed that what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at Nizamabad on Tuesday was all hot air and devoid of any substance.
“Modi said the BRS and the Congress were much the same. Congress leaders say that the BJP and the BRS are two sides of the same coin. But what they should understand is that the BRS is the A team of the people of Telangana,” said KTR.
“The BRS is not subservient to anyone. It has self-respect. It had not pledged fealty to Delhi or Gujarat. We are more interested in the welfare of the people of Telangana. We want to see that the people in every village are happy. We do not need any appreciation from Delhi rulers,” he added.

Taking on the BJP
The BRS working president called the BJP to account for raising the price of LPG cylinders to a stage where it had become unaffordable to middle-class and lower-middle-class people.
“Under your dispensation, the prices of diesel and petrol have gone up. It is unfortunate that you are describing, as a demon, KCR who has brought Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, Kalyana Lakshmi, KCR kits, and Arogya Lakshmi. The people will not be carried away by this campaign of calumny,” he said.
The Telangana minister also said that Modi’s acts were quite amusing to him sometimes. “I have no personal differences with him, but it amuses me to watch him flag off the same train time and again. If it is possible, he would not mind getting inside the train and getting down at every station to wave the green flag,” he said.
He also poked fun at the prime minister for saying that KCR wanted to make him (KTR) the chief minister.
“If KCR wanted to make me the chief minister, why should he go to Modi and tell him about it? In the BRS, it is the people who decide who should be the chief minister. Why do we have to get an NOC (no-objection certificate) from Modi? What Modi speaks is nothing but a list of white lies,” KTR said.

Appeal to the masses
The BRS leader said that he had come to the people to explain what the BRS government had done for them during the last nine and a half years.
“You have blessed KCR to be the chief minister for two terms. Now we are at the threshold of the Assembly elections again. The BRS has done a lot for Telangana. If what I am saying is true, then only vote for the BRS. If not, then don’t,” he said.
He urged the people to compare the status of power, drinking water supply, and irrigation facilities prior to 2014 and now.
In Nirmal, people used to undertake an onerous journey of 70 km to Adilabad to make any representation to the district collector.
“But now Nirmal itself has become a district. In fact, the collector’s offices that the government has built have no comparison in any state in the entire country,” he said.
The BRS working president recalled how the people used to suffer on account of a lack of drinking water before the creation of Telangana.
“But now, the situation is entirely different. We are supplying water to all households. In no state in the country is power supplied free of cost to the farm sector. The BJP and the Congress leaders say that there is no 24×7 power supply, as claimed by the government. Let them go to whichever village they choose and touch the power cables to see for themselves if there is a power supply. For their convenience, we will fix buses,” he said in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
