Synopsis: BRS MLAs and MLCs on Monday, 7 September, gathered at Gun Park earlier in the day. Addressing the gathering, KTR, alleged that Congress swept to power on reckless promises to Backward Classes and other sections, putting 420 guarantees on bond paper with a 100-day deadline. “A thousand days later, not one has been honoured,” he said.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) and former Minister Harish Rao, were detained on Monday, 7 September, outside the Assembly, as they were protesting in black T-shirts, marking 1,000 days of Congress rule in Telangana with slogans denouncing the government’s failure to keep its poll promises, ahead of the Assembly’s Monsoon Session.
Prior to his arrest, KTR condemned excessive police force and said he was slightly injured during the scuffle.
Police refused to let Harish Rao into the Assembly with black T-shirt with protest slogans written on it. The BRSLP floor leader removed his t-shirt in response and was forcibly moved into a police van.

KTR said BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had directed legislators to question the government during the session over issues including an estimated ₹18,000 crore in pending fee-reimbursement dues and GO 97 that merges polytechnic colleges with Young India Skills University.
He said that the GO’s main aim was to free up land for real estate, and that the party’s 7 September deadline for its withdrawal has lapsed.
KTR alleged irregular land allocations to relatives of the Chief Minister and ministers, and said the poll-time “Abhaya Hastam” had turned into a “Basmasura Hastam” in office. He said the public will ‘prohibit’ the Congress government soon, similar to how several private properties were prohibited under Section 22-A.
The party also sought a month-long session to discuss the concerns of farmers, Singareni workers, auto drivers, government employees, and anganwadi workers.
Chaos erupted at Gun park when police tried to disrupt the protest. Senior women legislators alleged that police used excessive force against them. Narsapur MLA and former minister V Sunitha Laxma Reddy was reportedly left with a minor injury. The women representatives said they were angered by the conduct and questioned how this government could claim to respect women.
