KCR’s nephew Joginapally Santosh Kumar booked for land-grabbing in Hyderabad

The Banjara Hills police in Hyderabad on Thursday, 21 March, registered a case against Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh Kumar in a land-grabbing and trespass case in Hyderabad.

Santosh Kumar is the nephew of BRS chief and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The written complaint, based on which the case was registered, was shared widely on social media platforms on Sunday.

The complainant, Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd (NECL), appeared to have alleged that the land was trespassed upon and two rooms were constructed on the site.

However, BRS leader Joginapally Santosh Kumar claimed that he purchased the land legally.

The complaint

South First accessed the formal complaint by NECL, as given to the Banjara Hills police.

In it, NECL’s authorised representative Chinta Madhav (39) sought appropriate legal action against the trespassers.

“Navayuga Engineering Company (NECL) purchased an extent of 1350Sq Yds or 1128.78 sq.mtrs in Survey no 129/54 situated at road no 14, Banjara hills, Hyderabad from vendors Karan Dube and his wife Bharathi Dube. NECL obtained a statement of encumbrance on the above property for the period covering 30 years i.e., from 01-01-1993 to 01-11-2023 (till date of EC) [sic],” said Chinta Madhav in the complaint.

“Recently, it came to our knowledge that two rooms were constructed and the same was physically witnessed upon inquiry from the GHMC office, it was found that tax is being paid on our premises by Jogunapally Santosh by fabricating the door no’s [sic],” he added.

He also claimed that the alleged trespassers had forged and fabricated documents solely to grab the 1,350-square-yard land on Survey no 129/54 on Plot No 4 in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad.

Banjara Hills Police Station’s Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) GV Rambabu registered a case against Santosh Kumar under Sections 420, 468, 471, 447, and 120 (B) read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code and began an investigation.

Santosh Kumar responds

Meanwhile, Joginapally Santosh Kumar said in a statement that he had “legally purchased” a 904-square-yard house land situated in survey number 129/54 in the Sheikh Pet I locality.

He claimed to have bought the land for ₹3.815 crore from a person named Shyamsunder in 2016, and the transaction was recorded in the Sale Deed No 5917/2016, dated 11 November of that year.

“The word forgery does not apply here and there was no litigation for eight years,” he said in the statement.

“Shyamsunder, who sold me the house plot, purchased the land in 1992 vide Sale Deed No 1888/1992. He made it clear to me that there had been no legal disputes since then. That means there has been no litigation on that land for almost 32 years,” added the BRS leader.

He also claimed no construction had taken place on the piece of land after he bought it.

“If there are any legal issues, please give me a legal notice first and ask for an explanation. How can one complain to the police station that there is a forgery?” asked Santosh Kumar.

“The police and the media claim that the area of the disputed house is 1,350 square yards. But I have bought only 904 yards of house land,” he said.

Santosh Kumar also said that the case was registered with political malice and that people were creating misconceptions by levelling unnecessary accusations against the property.

He put out an open challenge, saying anybody could verify the documents of the land in his possession.
