KCR in Solapur

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday, 27 June, asserted that the BRS was the B team for neither the BJP nor the Congress, as was being made out.

In fact, it was the A team of farmers, backward classes, SCs, STs, and other weaker sections, he said at a public meeting at Sarkoli in the Solapur district of Maharashtra.

Taking a serious exception to Maharashtra leaders’ insinuations against him and his party, KCR said it was one among the states into which the BRS was spreading its footprint to bring about a qualitative change in governance.

‘BRS is now a national party’

He said: “Ever since we began visiting Maharashtra, political parties seem to have been flustered. Their reaction, that we are working as the B team of one party or the other, only betrayed their fears. The BRS is now a national party, not limited to Telangana and Maharashtra.”

He called the successive governments in Maharashtra to account for the state remaining a backward one.

Though India attained Independence 75 years ago, the situation had hardly improved, he said, reiterating his belief that the ruling parties had not given the right direction that the nation needed.

He said: “This is the right time to ponder over which direction the nation should move in. There is now a need for another freedom struggle, and there should be a new dawn. We have to learn from smaller nations like South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, which have grown rapidly over the years.”

He added: “The people gave the mandate to rule the state to the Congress, the Shiv Sena, and the BJP, but they did nothing to improve the lot of the people.”

‘Will light up farmers’ life’

Predicting better days for farmers in the country, he said that sooner than later Diwali would arrive to light up their lives.

“A change is now taking place in India. This change — Bharat Parivartan — is needed to address all the economic ills plaguing the nation,” he said, adding that if elected, the BRS would provide irrigation facilities to crores of acres of parched lands.

He said that it was unfortunate that, even in these modern days, water supply was available once in eight days in Aurangabad, once in five days in Solapur and there was no water supply in Akola.

“The root cause of all these ills was the skewed water policy of the nation which should be dumped in the Bay of Bengal. Though there is ample water, people have no access to it because the leaders had no foresight,” he said.

As the people in the US elected Barack Obama as if in reparation for harassing the black race, even in India, there should be a change on similar lines.

Asks people to elect ‘kisan sarkar’

He asked the people to elect a farmers’ government — kisan sarkar -— to light up their lives.

Saying that there were several progressive schemes in implementation in Telangana, he questioned why schemes like the Dharani portal which had revolutionised land management could not be implemented in Maharashtra.

He complimented Maratha leader Bhagirath Balke for joining the BRS and promised all cooperation and help to him to take forward the party’s agenda.

He said Balke had opened the door to western Maharashtra for BRS.

KCR said that since he was born into a farmer’s family, he would work for the welfare of farmers. He also blamed the Centre for not digitising the land records even though it bats for Digital India.

“The Prime Minister presses for ‘Make in India’ but we see China Bazaars everywhere,” he said.
