Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday, 30 January, found fault with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for approaching the high court and seeking a direction that Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan approve the budget in the state Assembly and Legislative Council.

The BRS government approached the court in an attempt to tarnish the image of the Governor, but received a setback, he told reporters.

Following the advice of the court, advocates of the state government and the Raj Bhavan informed the court that they had come to an understanding and, hence, the court could dispose of the petition.

Speaking to reporters, Sanjay said that the chief minister was engaging in petty politics and speaking lies to divert the attention of the public, instead of discussing the development.

He also sought to know why the state government was keeping the anti-defection file pending for years. “Why are BRS leaders not speaking about it?” he asked.

Sanjay also slammed the chief minister and BRS leaders for allegedly lying about establishing the Bayyaram steel plant in the Khammam district.

He noted that for the last eight years, KCR and BRS leaders alleged that the Central government was not interested in setting up the steel plant.

They went to the extent of saying that there was no response from the Centre, despite writing letters requesting it to take measures to set up the plant, he said.

However, he added, the Central government clarified that the Telangana government failed to submit a detailed project report (DPR) to set up the plant.

‘Fighting anti-people policies’

Under the BRS regime, all sections — including sarpanches — have been facing problems and the suicide attempt of a sarpanch couple in front of the Nizamabad Collectorate — for failing to release funds for works that were completed previously — was proof, Bandi Sanjay said.

He stated that the BJP was the only party fighting against the anti-people policies of the BRS government.

He took strong exception to the police action taken on BJP activists ahead of Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao’s visit to Kamalapur in Karimnagar on Tuesday.

A big win

On Monday, Bandi Sanjay visited the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Telangana unit president Bhanu Prakash, who is admitted to a private hospital.

Bhanu Prakash suffered injuries, allegedly at the hands of the police, while taking part in a protest in front of the Director General of Police’s office in Lakdikapul in Hyderabad a few days ago.

He was present to show his support for candidates who appeared for the sub-inspector and police constable preliminary test.

The aspirants earlier approached the court as several questions had multiple answers. There was confusion regarding nine questions in the SI test and seven in the constable test.

Following the incident, the state government announced its decision to hold the recruitment process as per the directions of the high court, and that extra marks would be awarded.
