In a bone-chilling incident, the severed head of an unidentified woman was found on the morning of Wednesday, 17 May, near the banks of the Musi river at Teegala Guda in Hyderabad, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Malakpet police.
As per reports, it was found by the sanitation workers who subsequently informed the locals. The shocked locals then called the Malakpet police to the incident spot.
This appears to be the latest in a series of gruesome murders committed across Telangana, including Hyderabad, over the past few months.
Malakpet Station House Officer (SHO) Kasparaju Srinivas told South First that the woman’s head had gold earrings and other ornaments, which were not dislodged even after it was thrown in the river.
“We are yet to identify the victim. There can be several angles related to the murder — from family disputes to love to money. We are looking into all scenarios,” Srinivas said.
The severed head of the woman, suspected to be in her mid-thirties, was found dumped in a black plastic cover.
Srinivas added that the police were going through the footage from the CCTV cameras installed nearby.
The cops also suspect that the woman might have been murdered on the night of 16 May at a different location, after which the accused dumped her head in the river.
The Malakpet police have registered a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) and the head has been “preserved” at the Osmania General Hospital.
