Mancherial murder

A 24-year-old man was stoned to death on the morning of Tuesday, 25 April, in Telangana’s Mancherial district by the kin of a woman he was allegedly harassing.

The deceased — Muske Mahesh who was a milkman — was murdered gruesomely in broad daylight at the Indaram village in the Jaipur mandal of Mancherial.

“The family members are absconding and we are searching for them. From the CCTV video, it appears to be four of them,” Jaipur mandal SHO Rama Krishna told South First.

Meanwhile, Jangam Sainath (29) was murdered on 22 January in a similar fashion — in broad daylight — on 100 Feet Road in Jiyaguda in Hyderabad.

What led to the attack?

Mancherial-based social activist Sriman Narayana told South First, “Mahesh was allegedly harassing a woman in the same village. He allegedly uploaded her private videos on social media.”

As per reports, Mahesh was also said to be responsible for the suicide of the woman’s husband.

They were previously in a relationship. However, her family married her off to another man, around six months ago, as they belonged to different castes.

Mahesh belonged to the Boya community while the woman is from Munnuru Kapu community.

In a bid to seek revenge, Mahesh allegedly uploaded videos and pictures of his intimate moments with the woman, due to which her husband had gone into depression and died by suicide. Subsequently, the woman’s mother-in-law also ended her life.

“The woman’s husband had divorced her and she returned to her parent’s house, and was living there only. Mahesh continued harassing the woman and kept sharing her videos,” Narayana said.

As per reports, three cases were filed against Mahesh in the past at the Jaipur Mandal Police Station.

However, they added that he was only counselled and sent back. Mahesh continued harassing the woman despite the case.

Police investigate

As per reports, the four accused — the girl’s father Kanakaiah, his wife Padma, their daughter Mounika, and son Sai — intercepted Mahesh around 8:30 am on Tuesday.

As seen in the video accessed by South First, which also went viral on social media, the accused allegedly attacked him with a rock repeatedly before slitting his throat.

Mahesh sustained grave injuries on the head while it could be seen in the video that bystanders did not intervene and kept watching.

Receiving information about the attack, the cops rushed to the spot. A case was registered by the Jaipur mandal police under IPC Section 302 (murder).

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased entered into an argument with the police. They apparently alleged that their son died as the cops arrived late at the scene.
