Synopsis: On 27 July, a lecturer identified in the complaint as Sirisha allegedly compared his score to a classmate who had scored one mark higher. When Tarun objected to the comparison, the lecturer reportedly humiliated him and asked, “Are you a minister’s son? Or do you think you are even bigger than that?” and proceeded to slap him in front of other students and teachers.
T. Tarun, a second-year Bi.P.C. student, who has a high achiever, at the Government Junior College in Gadwal, was found dead at his home in Kothapalle village in the evening on Tuesday, 28 July, after lecturer allegedly humiliates, slaps him over marks.
His parents, who had stepped out to a nearby temple that afternoon, returned to find the door locked from inside. When repeated knocking got no response, they had a relative enter through an opening in the roof to open the door, and found Tarun dead.
According to the First Information Report lodged by his elder brother, Telugu Mohan, at Gadwal Rural police station, Tarun had scored 434 out of 440 marks in his first-year examinations, standing second in the district.

The complaint states that Tarun was left deeply distressed by the incident. The college principal reportedly counselled him the following day after learning what had happened. Tarun did not attend college on Tuesday and was found dead later that day.
Family members recovered a 2-page letter clipped to an exam pad on Tarun’s cot, written in English. They said they translated it using a mobile phone and discovered that it was his suicide note.
In the alleged suicide note, Tarun described the humiliation he faced at the hands of lecturer Sirisha, and appealed for teachers to be mindful of how such treatment affects sensitive students.
Based on the family’s complaint, Gadwal Rural police registered a case in the early hours of 29 July under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with abetment of suicide, against the lecturer.
