With the Election Commission of India (ECI) giving the go-ahead, the Telangana government has started making preparations for the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations on 2 June.

The state government was waiting for the ECI’s clearance as the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in force due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections across the nation.

The clearance was needed because the government intended to organise the celebrations on a major scale since it would be the Revanth Reddy dispensation’s first state formation day fete.

What to expect?

At a recent meeting, the state Cabinet passed a resolution to invite former Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the celebrations at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad as a token of gratitude to her for creating the separate Telangana state.

The government also wants to honour those who fought during the turbulent days of the Telangana movement.

According to sources, the government might formally announce “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” by poet Ande Sri as the state’s anthem and also unveil its new logo during the celebrations.

Meanwhile, after receiving the ECI clearance, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari met senior officials and reviewed the arrangements.

She reportedly instructed the officials to make elaborate arrangements at the Parade Grounds.
