Reviving rural education: CM Revanth Reddy emphasises one government school in every Gram Panchayat

The Chief Minister directed officials to revive all closed schools, regardless of student enrollment, and ensure their regular operation.

In a decisive move to bolster rural education, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasised the imperative of establishing government schools in every Gram Panchayat across Telangana.

During a comprehensive review of the education system, alongside top officials at the Secretariat on Saturday, 30 December, the Chief Minister asserted that no Panchayat should lack a school, advocating for accessible education in even the smallest and remotest villages.

The Chief Minister directed officials to revive all closed schools, regardless of student enrollment, and ensure their regular operation. A mega DSC (District Selection Committee) has been proposed for extensive teacher recruitment to fortify education in village-based government schools.

Focusing on the ongoing “Mana Ooru, Mana Badi (Our Village, Our School)” initiative, Chief Minister Reddy urged officials to expedite pending tasks and elevate all schools to the status of exemplary educational institutions.

Addressing concerns related to promotions and transfers of government teachers, the Chief Minister recommended dialogue with Teachers’ Unions to explore alternative solutions.

Furthermore, he instructed authorities to reassess electricity billing categories for educational institutions and find suitable alternatives for schools billed under business and industrial categories. Directives were issued for the provision of sweepers and sanitation workers in schools.

Skill universities to transform old districts

In a significant development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the establishment of Skill Universities in all old districts of Telangana. He highlighted the critical role these universities would play in producing skilled manpower essential for industrial requirements.

The proposed Skill Universities are envisioned to offer employment-oriented short-term and long-term courses.

To gather insights, officials have been tasked with studying the operations of similar institutions in Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

Skill Universities are slated for establishment in nine districts, including the Kodangal Assembly constituency.

Chief Minister Reddy directed the Chief Secretary to form a Special Committee comprising secretaries from the Education, Industries, and Labor Departments to formulate suitable proposals.

TATA Technologies review meeting

In another review meeting Chief Minister Reddy engaged with representatives from TATA Technologies. The discussions focused on equipping the youth with modern technology to bolster their competitiveness on a global scale and create more employment opportunities.

Chief Minister Reddy stressed the importance of introducing contemporary courses in all government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to align with the rapid advancements in technology. The Chief Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities for the youth in Telangana.

In line with this commitment, Chief Minister Reddy suggested to TATA Technologies the introduction of new courses that offer immediate employment prospects and promote entrepreneurship among the youth, encouraging them to establish their industries.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need to replace outdated courses with modern ones to ensure the efficient use of the youth’s valuable time.

Skill development meeting

Welcoming TATA Technologies’ decision to invest ₹1,500 crore to ₹2,000 crore in job-oriented industrial skill development training, Chief Minister Reddy expressed gratitude for their initiative to provide compatible training to nearly one lakh students.

TATA Technologies is set to establish 4.0 Skilling Centres across the state, providing necessary machinery, equipment, and software along with maintenance. It will be offering training in Industry 4.0-based courses such as industrial automation, robotics manufacturing, advanced CNC machine technicians, EV mechanics, basic design, and virtual verification.

To formalise the collaboration, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumar has been directed to constitute a committee with top officials to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TATA Technologies.

The collaboration aims to offer 22 new short-term and 5 long-term courses to polytechnic and engineering students, focusing on employing in the high-demand manufacturing sector through modern technical workshops.
