Chaos unfolded at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2 following actor Allu Arjun’s arrival.
Synopsis: The police investigation reportedly established lapses in planning, crowd management, security arrangements, and coordination among the theatre management, event organisers, private security personnel, and others involved during the incident.
The Chikkadpally police in Hyderabad have named Telugu movie actor Allu Arjun as the 11th accused in the Sandhya 70mm Theatre stampede case.
Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad, VC Sajjanar, stated in a press release on Saturday, 27 December, that the chargesheet in the case was filed with the court on 24 December, more than a year after the incident.
Besides the actor, the chargesheet named 22 others, including two women, as accused.
“A total of 23 accused persons have been charge-sheeted in the case. Of these, 14 accused were arrested, while 9 accused, who obtained anticipatory bail, were served notices,” the statement said.

The accused included the theatre owner, Agamati Ram Reddy alias Pedda Ram Reddy, partners Agamati Ram Reddy alias Chinna Ram Reddy, M Sandeep, M Sumeeth alias Mittu, Agamati Vinay Kumar, Agamati Ashutosh Reddy, M Renuka Devi and Agamati Aruna Reddy. They have been named as accused one to eight.
Theatre manager M Nagaraju, Allu Arjun’s managers Josya Bhatla Santosh Kumar and Sharat Bunny alias Sharath Chandra Naidu, his security guards Cheruku Ramesh and Sriramula Raju, event organiser Talla Kiran Kumar Goud alias Raju, and five bouncers, too, figured in the chargesheet submitted by the Chikkadpally police.
“The investigation established lapses in planning, crowd management, security arrangements, and coordination among the theatre management, event organisers, private security personnel, and others involved during the incident,” the Commissioner further said.
The case pertained to a stampede at the theatre during the premier of the actor’s Pushpa 2: The Rule on 4 December 2024. A woman, Revathi was killed and her nine-year-old son, Sritej, grievously injured as the crowd surged to catch a glimpse of the actor visiting the theatre.

Allu Arjun was arrested on 13 December 2024, and was released on bail the next day.
The Police Commissioner’s Office said further proceedings in the case would continue as per the law.
