The Narayanpet police on Saturday, 25 November, booked BRS Kodangal MLA and candidate Patnam Narender Reddy and his son on attempt-to-murder and other charges after they allegedly thrashed a man for extending support to the Congress party.
Narendra Reddy, his son Hiteesh Reddy, a former deputy mayor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and six others — his purported aides — have been booked under multiple IPC sections.
In the FIR copy, accessed by the South First, the complainant Kura Naresh (28) alleged that Reddy and his aides beat him with stones and sticks, leaving him with head injuries.
He added that in the early hours of 25 November, the MLA and his aides — around 20 in number — arrived in two cars and four bikes and intercepted him while he was going to his home on his bike.
Naresh, a resident of Kosgi town, claimed that he was thrashed over his support to the Congress party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
In his complaint, Naresh said that the MLA and his supporters threatened him and said, “How dare you support Congress, we will kill you.”
He added that they dragged him into their car and thrashed him “brutually” with stones and sticks before trying to kill him.
In a video going on viral on social media, a man, purportedly Naresh, can be seen profusely bleeding with several injuries on his head.
