Reacting to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comment about former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao hiding 22 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles, BRS MLC Kavitha, on Saturday, 30 December, said that the security arrangements of the chief minister and other VIPs are dealt with by the police.
Speaking to reporters in Warangal, Kavitha said that politicians do not have any role in those issues.
“Ultimately, the protocol of any chief minister is decided by the security wing, Intelligence and the police. There is no role of politicians in that. It (the purchase of vehicles) was decided like that and it was unfortunate that the current Chief Minister thinks so, but it is not the case,” she told reporters when asked for her reaction on the issue.
She further said that during the last 10 years, the leaders never insisted on what kind of security cover the police should provide to them.
“It is not fair for the Chief Minister to make an issue out of it and belittle it,” she opined.

Chief Minister Reddy, on Wednesday, 27 December, had said, “The former chief minister bought 22 new Land Cruisers and hid them in Vijayawada so he could use them after returning to power. Talk about fate: They came to us.”
“Even I did not know about it until 10 days after I became chief minister,” he said.
“Each vehicle costs ₹3 crore because they are bulletproof vehicles. This is how KCR has created wealth for the state,” Reddy said sarcastically.
The Chief Minister was speaking during the release of the form that has to be used to claim the benefits under six guarantees, at the Secretariat.
Revanth Reddy also described as “blood money” the wealth that BRS working president KT Rama Rao had allegedly amassed.
Revanth also said that he would make KTR “return the entire ill-gotten wealth” to its rightful owners — the people.
The BRS, however, countered the claim and accused the Chief Minister of misleading people. “It’s an open fact that new cars get bulletproof (SIC) done in Vijayawada. Everyone including Revanth Reddy already knew about this,” said Y Satish Reddy, Spokesperson of BRS, on X.
He further added, “But he chose to pull off a cheap PR game, that he doesn’t need new convoy because he already knew there are new cars.”

Kavitha also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi accord national festival status to Sammakka Saaramma Jatra, a tribal festival, describing it as a South Indian Kumbh Mela.
She said that there were several representations to Prime Minister Modi on the issue.
