Prime Minister Modi said the West Bengal poll victory has energised BJP ranks across the country.

Synopsis: Addressing a BJP-organised public meeting in Secunderabad, Prime Minister Modi said the party’s victory in the West Bengal polls has energised its ranks across the country. Calling the win a shift in Indian politics, he said the BJP will soon win Telangana also.

The BJP’s victory in West Bengal, where it wrested power from the Trinamool Congress, has energised the party and its workers across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Telangana’s Secunderabad on Sunday, 10 May.

Addressing a public meeting at the Parade Grounds, he said the Bengal victory marked a historic shift in Indian politics, which will soon be seen in Telangana also.

“Yesterday, I was in Bengal. For the first time, a BJP Chief Minister has taken oath, and for the first time, a BJP government was formed with a thumping majority. I am seeing its effect here; there is a lot of enthusiasm here, all the workers are filled with energy,” he said.

‘People defeated a dictatorial model’

The Prime Minister presented the Bengal win not as the victory of the BJP, but as a public revolt against years of political suppression.

“It is not a win or a loss for a party — people have defeated a politics which had chained the people of Bengal. Congress fuelled corruption, parivarvaad, and strangulated constitutional institutions,” he said.

“When the TMC came, it emulated those habits, adopted the bad habits of the Left, and then developed the most dangerous model. In its dictatorial regime, it chained Bengal. Now the people defeated that dictatorial model. Hence, the whole country is celebrating,” he said.

“I am seeing people’s sentiments in Telangana — they are saying, ‘abki baar Telangana mein bhi BJP sarkar,’” he told the rumbunctious crowd.

Telangana’s place in BJP history

Modi reminded the gathering about the state’s role in building the party nationally.

“Telangana is the land which gave a BJP MP when we had only two MPs. Today, half of the MPs here are from the BJP. I have full faith in the Telangana public and the BJP workers here. Next time, with a thumping majority, a BJP government will be formed,” he said.

He cited the BJP’s recent electoral run as evidence of a deepening national mandate.

“From Assam to Odisha and from Bengal to Puducherry, this is not just political expansion — it signifies a change where people don’t want parivarvaad, rather they are choosing vishwasvaad. In Assam, for the first time after Independence, the BJP has made a hat-trick. The number of MLAs increased from three to ‘200 paar.’ The place where nobody would pick the BJP flag, governments have been formed there,” he said.

Congress is ‘MMC’

Modi launched a broadside against the Congress, accusing the party of breaking promises and ideologically drifting toward extremism.

“What is Congress doing here? You know this. They have chief ministers in only three states now. Wherever they are, there is only one model — first lie, then forget. They promise the moon before the election, but after forming the government, they start procrastinating. In Himachal and Karnataka, Congress has forgotten its promises. The same is happening here in Telangana,” he said.

He went further and labelled the party, Muslim League-Maowadi Congress.

“Congress has now become the main base of divisive, hate-filled politics. They have become more Left than the Left, and have become Maowadi, and have become more extremist than the Muslim League. That is why people call them MMC — Muslim League-Maowadi Congress,” he said.

He connected this to Telangana’s struggle against Naxalism.

“Telangana is now getting rid of Naxalism with the help of the BJP. Therefore, it has become more important to form a BJP government here,” he said.

Development as BJP’s answer

Modi pointed to the projects he inaugurated earlier in the day as proof of the BJP’s governance model at work.

“The BJP has had this mantra — the development of the country through the development of states. Work is going on in 14 industrial corridors, one of which will be made in Telangana. The ecosystem is getting ready; lakhs of people will be employed. It will be a boon for farmers and the middle class,” he said.

He highlighted the PM MITRA textile park at Warangal specifically.

“For the whole country, seven PM MITRA textile parks are being developed — one of them is being made in Warangal. It will change the fortunes of people here,” he said.

He also announced a new cotton mission aimed at improving production and quality for cotton farmers across Telangana.
