ACB raids uncover substantial disproportionate assets linked to Telangana DSP

Synopsis: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a case of disproportionate assets against Deputy Superintendent of Police Sankireddy Bheem Reddy. Searches were conducted at his residence and at 15 other places belonging to his relatives, friends, benamidars and other associates .

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday, 2 July, registered a case of disproportionate assets against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, currently working at Police Computer Services (PCS), Hyderabad.

The ACB said in a press note that he acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

Searches were conducted at his residence and at 15 other places belonging to his relatives, friends, benamidars and other associates on Thursday under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018),

Assets uncovered

During the searches, documents relating to cash and immovable assets were found, including:

  • One villa in Vessella Meadows, Ibrahimbagh, Hyderabad,
  • One residential house in Telecom Nagar,
  • One flat in Sai Prabha Residency, Telecom Nagar,
  • One flat at Kranti Ceon Apartments in Gachibowli,
  • Share in a commercial complex on Lancohills Road, Manikonda,
  • One commercial space near Manikonda Marrichettu Junction,
  • Two residential flats at Abhinanda Residency in Tellapur,
  • One 500 sq. yards open plot at Pragathi Resorts,
  • 3.5 acres of agricultural land in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy,
  • Six acres of agricultural land in Karnataka,
  • Another 38 acres of agricultural land in Karnataka,
  • One acre of land in Devanahalli, Bengaluru,
  • One open plot of 200 sq. yards near Kamineni Hospital, Nagole,
  • One open plot of 400 sq. yards near GPR Housing Society, Patancheru,
  • One open plot of 200 sq. yards at Patancheru,
  • One parcel of land admeasuring 1,000 sq. yards at Mominpet, Vikarabad,
  • Two acres of agricultural land at Mominpet, Vikarabad,
  • An investment of ₹75 lakh in Sri Raghavendra Rock Sand Minerals,
  • Agricultural land admeasuring 4.2 acres in Muchintala village, CC Kunta.

ACB said that, during the searches, net cash of approximately ₹3.6 lakh was found in the house of the officer and another ₹40 lakh in the house of his binami.

Additionally, gold ornaments weighing about two kg, silver articles weighing about 20 kg and bank balances of approximately ₹19.91 lakh were found.

Since 23 foreign liquor bottles were also found at the officer’s house, the ACB intimated the excise officials to take further action.

The ACB said further verification of additional assets is underway and that the market value of immovable properties may be many times higher than the document value.
