Congress office bearers and workers resign in Dakshina Kannada

Congress party cadres in Telangana are set to approach the high command over the state government preferring “new entrants” and extending the tenure of BRS-appointed officials in the nominated posts, sources said on Wednesday 11 December.

Party cadres expressed disappointment over the Revanth Reddy government appointing leaders who joined the grand old party just days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and those previously associated with the BRS in nominated posts and ignoring “original Congress leaders”.

The issue has raked up a whole new ‘insider vs outsider’ rivalry in Telangana Congress. The miffed cadres have compiled a list of appointments that they deemed “controversial” and are approaching the Congress national leadership to notify the same.

‘Disappointed leaders’

Sources said that “original Congress leaders” were disappointed as the party ignored those who ensured its victory in the Assembly elections last year.

“Pro-Congress intellectuals are also dissatisfied with the appointments of those close to the BRS in the previous government, instead of those who worked for the Congress in the Assembly elections,” sources said.

The cadres released a list of 25 officials who are not “original Congress leaders” or “worked for the BRS in the past”.

Officers and officers bearers on the list are:

  • Pocharam Srinivas Reddy: MLA – BRS; Joined Congress before Lok Sabha polls; Appointed as Government Advisor – Agriculture.
