Panjagutta police station

A total of 85 police officers posted at the Panjagutta Police Station were transferred by Hyderabad Police Commissioner, K Sreenivasa Reddy, on Wednesday, 31 January.

With 90 percent of the Panjagutta Police Station being replaced, the action is seen as the highest number of transfers of police personnel at once.

All the personnel have been shifted to the City Armed Reserve Headquarters in Hussaini Alam. A new set of 82 police personnel from various police stations have now been posted at the Panjagutta Police Station.

Speaking to South First, Reddy said, “The transfers have been because information was being leaked regularly in matters of significance. The attitude of the staff had turned lethargic. So, I considered it better to bring in a new set of people.”

Recent incidents

One of the significant matters in the past months is the accident case on 24 December last year near the Praja Bhavan in which the son (Mohammed Amer Raheel) of the former Bodhan MLA, Mohammed Shakil Amir of the BRS has been accused.

“A Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against both the father, son, and two relatives as they are still believed to be in Dubai. Search is going on for them,” Reddy added.

The incident was brought to the notice of Sreenivasa Reddy when the FIR, complaint and general diary entry, were checked, and they didn’t have Raheel’s name.

He confirmed that the Panjagutta Inspector, B Durga Rao, who was suspended for falsely implicating Shakeel’s driver instead of his son Raheel, is also absconding in the matter.

Reports suggested that Rao had received a call from Shakeel’s aide and Bodhan inspector Prem Kumar, who asked the former to implicate Asif. Prem Kumar was arrested later in the matter and is now out on bail.

Sources said that Kumar was believed to have a close association with Durga Rao who was the Panjagutta inspector when the accident took place.

In another incident, Aamir Ali, an arrested person escaped from the custody of the Panjagutta cops at the Gandhi Hospital, the police said. Ali was arrested by the Panjagutta police for injuring people after being chased by the car.

It is being reported that Ali booked a car using the Zoom App a few days ago with the intention to runway with the car.

The video of the incident went viral on social media.
