The Coimbatore police have registered a case against an aided-school headmaster, a teacher and two students following the death by suicide of a Class 11 boy.

The boy, Akilan, was found dead at his home at Peelamedu on Wednesday, 21 October. His mother, Kousalya, alleged in her police complaint that two of his classmates, class teacher Vijayakumar and headmaster Arunkumar, were responsible for her son’s death.

According to the first information report registered at Peelamedu police station, Vijayakumar reportedly asked the class which students ate beef. Following his query, the two students allegedly verbally abused Akilan using casteist slurs and physically assaulted him.
