Synopsis: In a particularly shocking act, the attackers allegedly left Kalimuthu’s severed head in the middle of the Kallidaikurichi–Tirunelveli highway before fleeing the scene. Kalimuthu’s elder son Chinnaraj, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
A father and his young five-year-old son were brutally murdered by an unidentified gang near Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district on Thursday, 2 July, in a shocking attack that police suspect was a targeted killing.
According to preliminary information, Kalimuthu, a resident of the Ambasamudram area, was travelling on a two-wheeler along with his two sons near Kallidaikurichi when a gang allegedly chased them in a car.
The assailants are said to have rammed their vehicle into the two-wheeler, causing the trio to fall on the road.
Police said the gang then attacked Kalimuthu and his five-year-old second son Jayaraj, beheading both of them in a gruesome assault.
