Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA from Madurai Central, Musthafa, has alleged that attempts are being made by AIADMK and DMK members to lure TVK legislators through horse-trading, claiming that he was personally approached with an offer of ₹15 crore.

Speaking to reporters at the Madurai airport after arriving from Chennai, on Wednesday, 4 November, Musthafa alleged that some AIADMK functionaries from his constituency had contacted him and offered him ₹15 crore in exchange for supporting a no-confidence motion against the government.

“I have informed the party leadership about this. They told me to accept ₹15 crore, saying that a no-confidence motion would be brought and that the money could be taken then,” he alleged.

He further claimed that the attempts involved both AIADMK and DMK members and said the identities of those behind the alleged operation would be revealed within a day or two.

“Even if they offer ₹100 crore, TVK MLAs will not switch sides,” he asserted.

Musthafa also referred to the case against former DMK minister V. Senthil Balaji, alleging that AIADMK members were now attempting to poach TVK legislators.

Government’s performance and political criticism

Defending the six-month-old TVK government, Musthafa said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had introduced several welfare schemes for the people of Tamil Nadu. He also welcomed the launch of the government’s women’s welfare initiative across various districts.

Responding to criticism from AIADMK leader R.B. Udhayakumar, he accused him of making baseless remarks to gain political prominence and referred to the Pollachi sexual assault case, which took place during the AIADMK regime.

Targeting Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman, Musthafa accused him of making contradictory statements and adopting a double standard. He said Seeman had failed to secure even his election deposit and was facing repeated setbacks in the electoral arena.
