A young man was brutally murdered in broad daylight in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu on Monday, 10 November. The deceased has been identified as Thamaraichelvan, a resident of Keelatheru in Bheemanagar in Tiruchirappalli, who was employed with a private real estate company.
According to police, Thamaraichelvan was travelling on his two-wheeler along the old post office road in Bheemanagar when his vehicle was hit by two bikes carrying a gang of four men.
The gang then chased him into the nearby police quarters area and repeatedly hacked him to death before fleeing the spot.
The Palakkarai police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Headquarters Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, in a swift development, police arrested Ilamaran, a resident of Thiruvanaikoil, in connection with the murder.
Four others — Ganesan (Srirangam), Nandhu, Satheesh, and Prabhakaran (all from the Thiruvanaikoil area) — are absconding, and police are tracing them using CCTV footage.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was linked to a real estate rivalry between Thamaraichelvan and Satheesh, both of whom reportedly had frequent quarrels over commission disputes in their business dealings. Further investigation is underway.
