DMK’s Salem Dharanidharan criticised BJP’s K Annamalai over the language policy disparity between Tamil Nadu and Hindi-speaking states
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin attended a government event in Chengalpattu today, March 11, 2025. He walked through Thirukkazhukundram, interacting with the public and receiving petitions.
At the event, he inaugurated 47 completed projects worth ₹280.38 crore and laid the foundation stone for five new projects valued at ₹497.06 crore. He also distributed ₹508.03 crore in welfare benefits to 50,606 beneficiaries and issued land titles to 214 residents under the urban land title distribution scheme.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has strongly condemned Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his remarks in Parliament, stating that he spoke in an undignified manner against the Tamil Nadu government and its MPs, thereby insulting eight crore Tamil people.
“Earlier, he arrogantly declared that Tamil Nadu would not receive funds if it refused to accept the New Education Policy (NEP). Now, in Parliament, he has once again displayed anti-democratic behaviour,” the TNCC stated.
The party criticised Pradhan’s comments, in which he accused the Tamil Nadu government of misleading students and ruining their future. “By calling Tamil Nadu leaders uncivilised and dishonest, and by mockingly questioning ‘Who is this Super Chief Minister?’ in reference to Chief Minister MK Stalin, he has insulted the elected representatives and the state as a whole,” the statement added.
The Meteorological Department had forecasted heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, including Tiruvarur. Since this morning, 11 March, the district has seen light drizzle, which has now turned into moderate rainfall.
Rainfall is also reported in nearby areas such as Adiyakkamangalam, Mavur, Mankudi, Ammaiappan, Koradacheri, Kankoduthavanitham, Thiruthuraipoondi, and Nannilam.
Salem Dharanidharan, IT Wing in-charge of the DMK, has questioned BJP Tamil Nadu chief K Annamalai on the language policy disparity between Tamil Nadu and the Hindi-speaking states. He pointed out that while Tamil Nadu follows a two-language policy—Tamil and English—people from the Hindi heartland predominantly learn only Hindi and expect others to adopt a third language.
“If everyone in the Hindi-speaking states (UP, Bihar, Delhi, MP, Jharkhand) learns two languages—Hindi and English—then we from Tamil Nadu can communicate with them in English. Our two-language policy will work wonders. But the problem is that people in the Hindi heartland want to learn only one language and order us to learn three languages while they stick to just one. Will @annamalai_k dare to reply to this?” Dharanidharan questioned on social media.
