The All India Congress Committee (AICC) announced its list of candidates for seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, 23 March. The list also included candidates for Lok Sabha constituencies in other states.

Of the seven candidates, four are incumbents — Karti Chidambaram from the Sivagangai constituency, Manickam Tagore from the Virudhunagar constituency, S Jothimani from the Karur constituency, and Vijay Vasanth from the Kanniyakumari constituency.

Except for Vijay Vasanth, the other three were elected as Members of Parliament for their respective constituencies during the 2019 general elections. Vijay Vasanth entered active politics after the death of his father Vasanthakumar, who was the sitting MP of the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha constituency, due to Covid. He contested and won the by-poll in 2021.

The AICC also named former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil as the candidate from the Thiruvallur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier in the year, Senthil was appointed Chairman of the AICC war room for Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress named Arani MP Dr MK Vishnu Prasad as the candidate from the Cuddalore constituency. Prasad is the working president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. In the 2019 general election, he contested on a Congress ticket from the Arani Lok Sabha constituency and won.

From the Krishnagiri constituency, the Congress named former MLA K Gopinath as its candidate. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly from the Hosur constituency in the 2001[2] and 2006 elections.
