Five-year-old boy killed in Tamil Nadu after sexual harassment attempt, Assam youth arrested

Synopsis: A five-year-old boy was allegedly sexually harassed and murdered by a youth from Assam in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram district. Initially suspected to be an accidental death, investigation revealed a young man taking the child away into the bushes and killing him with a stone after the boy allegedly refused to engage in a sexual act.

In a shocking incident near Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram district, a five-year-old boy was sexually harassed and murdered by a youth from Assam.

The child, son of migrant workers from Bihar residing in Karunguzhi village, went missing on 9 June.

His mother lodged a complaint at the Sriperumbudur Police Station the same day. A case was registered on 12 June, and a search was initiated.

Police later discovered the boy’s decomposed body in a dense bush within the same village.

Initially, it was suspected that the child may have accidentally fallen and sustained a fatal head injury.

However, upon reviewing CCTV footage from outside a nearby migrant workers’ residence, police found that a young man was seen taking the child away.

Based on this footage, police detained a 22-year-old man identified as Boldev, originally from Assam, for questioning.

During interrogation, Boldev reportedly confessed to taking the child into the bushes and killing him with a stone after the boy refused to engage in a sexual act.

Sriperumbudur Police are continuing the investigation.
