Wedding in November, reception in Chennai

The wedding is reportedly scheduled to take place in Greece on November 11, followed by a grand reception at ITC Grand Chola on Anna Salai in Chennai on November 21. The reception is scheduled to begin at 6.30 pm.

Kalanithi Maran and Kaveri Maran have begun personally inviting prominent political leaders to the reception. The invitees include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karnataka.

The family has also reached out to leaders across the political spectrum, adding a significant political dimension to an event already attracting attention across cinema, cricket and business circles.

DMK president MK Stalin has issued a separate invitation for the reception, describing Kavya as his beloved granddaughter and highlighting her family lineage. The invitation requests guests to attend with their families and bless the couple.

Who is Kavya Maran?

Kavya is the daughter of Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran and Kaveri Maran. She is the granddaughter of former Union Minister Murasoli Maran and Mallika Maran, and belongs to the extended family of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

A familiar face among cricket fans, Kavya serves as the CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Indian Premier League franchise owned by the Sun Group.

She has emerged as a prominent figure in the franchise’s operations and is regularly seen supporting the team during IPL matches.

Her family’s business interests span television, film production, newspapers, radio and other media ventures.

Anirudh’s rise in the music industry

Anirudh, son of actor Ravichander and classical dancer Lakshmi Ravichander, made his debut as a film composer with the 2012 Tamil film 3, starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan.

Anirudh is also the nephew of Superstar Rajinikanth, through his mother’s sister, Latha Rajinikanth.

Despite the family connections, he has carved out a distinct identity in the music industry through his signature sound, energetic compositions and chart-topping soundtracks.

Today, Anirudh is regarded as one of the leading music composers of his generation, working across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema.
