On Thursday, 29 February, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar confirmed that the government was extending by a fortnight the 28 February deadline for commercial establishments to adhere to the 60 percent Kannada signage rule. The traders’ associations in Bengaluru sought more time to change the signboards and requested the BBMP not to initiate coercive action against businesses.
