HDK’s heart surgery successful, to be discharged in four days
This the third intervention with earlier ones being in 2007 and 2017 due to tissue valve degeneration. The operation was deemed necessary given HDK's medical history, including a high risk of strokes and diabetes.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) successfully for the third time. This non-surgical procedure was carried out on 21 March at Apollo Hospital in Chennai and he will return home on 25 March. The operation was deemed necessary given HDK’s medical history, including a high risk of strokes and diabetes.
