Third intervention

It is noteworthy that this is the third intervention, with earlier ones being in 2007 and 2017 due to tissue valve degeneration. This challenging condition is usually associated with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).

The operation was deemed necessary given HDK’s medical history, including a high risk of strokes and diabetes.

The procedure, known for improving blood flow by replacing poorly functioning aortic valves, promises enhanced life quality and symptom relief, including reduced chest pain and breathlessness.

Dr CN Manjunath, HDK’s brother- in-law and a renowned cardiologist and former director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, highlighted to media on Wednesday, 20 March, the expertise of the medical team led by Dr Sai Satish, a renowned interventional cardiologist specialising in Structural Heart Diseases.

HDK’s operation in 2017 was done at Apollo Hospital at Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru.
